The Vril Society was formed in 1919 by a handful of female psychics led by the Thule Society's medium Maria Orsich of Zagreb, who claimed to have received communication from Aryan aliens who had settled in Sumeria.
The group rose in prominence and united three major societies:
- the Black Knights of the Thule Society
- the Lords of the Black Stone, having emerged from the Teutonic Order
- the Black Sun, later identified as the elite of Heinrich Himmler’s SS
They considered the source of their power was an infinite beam of light – the Black Sun – which, though invisible to the human eye, exists in anti-matter.

The Vril emblem became the Black Sun – the godhead's inner light – a symbol which can be found in many Babylonian and Assyrian places of worship.
A secret philosophy, thousands of years old, provided the foundation on which the occult practitioners of the Third Reich would later build.
